Meet Fernando, a 40 year old blue front Amazon. Fernando was
wild caught and owned by one person for 40 years. When the owner
relocated, "Bird" (now Fernando)
had to be given up. Fernando
never had a name or a toy. He lived in a small cage with incorrect
perches. This caused severe foot problems such as peeling and
calluses. He was extremely frightened and hand shy. The only
sound from Fernando were frightened screeches when the cage was
approached.
Fernando was placed in a new home. He has
a new big cage with many
toys. He was very cautious about the toys but now loves them.
He was vet checked and his feet have healed. He spends much time
out of the cage conversing with the other feathered friends in the
house and also sitting on his new
owner's hand. His new family feels
they will make his remaining years happy ones. |
