Meet
Max... One February morning a Blue Fronted Amazon flew into
the wall of Fortunoffs, fell to the ground, walked up a man’s pants
and shirt and onto his shoulder. He was the building manager and
got our number from a local vet’s office. After picking up the
bird, he was rushed the vet as his head was bleeding from hitting
the wall. He stayed with a volunteer for a week before a family
was found for him. As it turned out Max was owned by this family's eldest son
who was killed by a drunk driver several years earlier. His family
had taken care of Max ever since.
This is one of
our favorite
Rescue stories because it was a blessing for this family to get Max back.
Max is all they had left of their son. Once in awhile there is an exceptional ending to a found bird
story and we can’t think of a
better ending. When Max arrived at their
house he saw the mother and started yelling “Hi mom,” and of course
there was a steady stream of joyful tears. Max is a really great
bird.
